Howdy Everyone!

My name is Sweetie, or Honey, actually I don’t really know what it is.  So that is in discussion right now 🙂

I was found on the side of the road in northern MN when a nice lady picked me up and saved me & called a rescue group by the name of MN Paws, and that is how I ended up at my Foster Moms house.  More about the fantastic rescue MN Paws, the vet that runs it later 🙂

They are pretty sure my radial nerve is badly damaged, and my front leg will need to be amputated.  Since my Foster Mom had been a part of this group before, she right away said let me help this peanut, and she drove 40 miles to come get me AND she set this page up for me.

Now I have one foster sister, Bella, who has lots of energy, but doesn’t really play with me, but lets me play a lot with her Mommy.

Right now I am working hard on getting settled in, but I am so uncomfy it is hard, I cry a lot, which makes my Mommy sad.  The vet is trying to give me pills so I don’t hurt so much until they know what to do next.  <insert LOTS of prayers here>.

I should also say no one knows actually what breed I am, so my Mommy says we are going to do a DNA test, but the guesses are MAYBE german shepard + hound + beagle + ???, but I only weigh 30lbs and am about 9 months old.

Thanks for reading and any tips and advice for front leg amputees would be helpful – meds, harnesses, recovery, etc –

As my last foster tripawd was a back leg, but his was an old one and he could get around, this is new, painful, and she is still learning.

  1. You are a cutie! I see the beagle, but love your coloring. Any idea how the nerve was damaged? We are huge fans of the Ruffwear Webmaster Plus harness – you can see pictures in the gear blog. Otis was a 100 pound front leg amputee, and it was really helpful. I clipped his lead to the back of it, which kept the lead away from his feet. The handle allowed me to help him to get up without any straps digging into his body.

  2. Welcome! What a sweet face your girl has! Just want to give her a kiss! Prayers here for the best outcome possible for this beauty. What a blessing she’s under your loving experienced care now!

  3. The thought is that she was “dumped” out in the woods, and she was probably running around looking for her owners, and was hit by a car when someone found her shortly thereafter and then contacted the MN Paws rescue group which I am a part of 🙂

  4. Oh, Sweety Honey! I am so sorry you are ouchy. How wonderful of MN Paws and your fab Foster Mama to take you in and care for you.

We are also in MN and Pofi had a nerve sheath tumor so his nerves were very ouchy. Are your pills Gabapentin? If not, perhaps Foster Mom will ask about it.

    1. Yep currently on gabapentin & tramadol – We thought she was 9 mos old when the initial vet looked at her, but found out today she is just a Lil peanut of 6 mos old
